Introduction to FBC iCAFE System
 
FBCiCAFE is a GNU/Linux server-server/client network control program for administering and billing Public Internet Access Points-PIAP or so called “cyber cafe”. (Internet café) which is a web based worldwide network

FBCiCAFE consists of 5 main parts:

GNU/Linux local application server - this is the heart of your cyber café

Workstation - A box which has a 100Mbs LAN adapter, 32mb RAM, SVGA 1024x768-16bit Colour, keyboard, mouse and 17” monitor - this can be a PC, Thin Client, Pocket PC, Handheld Organizer or Palmtop with SVGA output and supports the above mentioned hardware. Along with a version of LTSP (the network concept on which FBCiCAFE is built on.

Working Desktop Environment - which is what the users see, the login screen, the time label and the environment which most windows™ users may find fimilar.

Set of appropriate cyber cafe applications - office suite, messenger, readers, archives and web browser

And finally, the core of the system - the administrative billing web based software. This is what gives you-the operator, some control in how you deal with your customers. In fact the machine where the controlling software run from is far away from you. It is hidden in secret place, locked behind doors, (firewalls), under 24 hour constant surveillance (plugged in the UPS) and only 2 people in the world have keys(the root password) for the padlocks. To use FBCiCAFE, you have to open your web browser and simply type www.the name given in your letter.net in the address field, all the controlling and billing mechanisms are web pages.
